Ammmerica
Eccoci qui, tiriamo le somme di questo bellissimo viaggio: 3 lunghe settimane, visitando ben 7 stati e percorrendo più di 5000 km.
Rientrate alle rispettive residenze e smaltita un po’ di nostalgia, siamo pronte per rivivere l'Ammmerica con le sue megalomanie, particolarità e luoghi comuni.
Giganti bandiere a stelle e strisce sventolano un po’ ovunque (per dovere di cronaca dobbiamo riportare che in Canada, in occasione del Canada Day, la presenza della foglia d’acero rossa in campo bianco era davvero OSSESSIVA), volanti della polizia come nei migliori film (e non eravamo ancora state agli Universal Studios), immancabile cartello che segnala la storica Route 66, ecc…
Non ci siamo fatte mancare ben 3 pernottamenti presso la catena di motel più economica e “replicante” al mondo: Motel6, che per costi e servizio vince su tutti!
Come si fa invece a non immaginarsi la sigla di Beverly Hills 90210 quando attraversi Santa Monica Blvd oppure non pensare a Baywatch quando sei in spiaggia e ogni 200m c’è un gabbiotto col guardaspiaggia?
In fin dei conti l’America (al contrario del Canada che è stato una rivelazione e un “energizzante” polmone verde) ci ha donato tante sorprese ma anche altrettante “certezze” riconducibili ad anni di mistificazioni culturali e bombardamenti cinematografici sull’Ammmerica.
Questo il nostro parziale resoconto della West Coast, ci tocca confermarlo o smentirlo facendo un giro sulla East?!?! VEDREMO…

Here we are, summing up this wonderful trip: 3 long weeks, 7 states visited and more than 5000 km covered.
Back to our respective homes and disposed of some nostalgia, we are ready to relive the Ammmerica with his megalomania, particularity and platitudes.
Giant stars and stripes flags waving almost everywhere (for the record we can say that in Canada, on Canada Day, the presence of the red maple leaf was obsessive), police cars as seen in the best movies (and we hadn't been to the Universal Studios yet), the inevitable sign marking the historic Route 66, etc.…
We even treated ourselves spending 3 nights in 3 different places at one of the cheapest motel chain in the world: the Motel6, who beats everyone on price, comfort and service!
How can you not imagine the theme song of Beverly Hills 90210 while crossing Santa Monica Blvd? How can you not think about Baywatch while every 200m there is a lifeguard's boot?
After all, America (unlike Canada which has been a revelation and an "energizing" green lung) has given us many surprises, but also many "certainties" attributable to years of cultural mystification and Hollywood-mania about the Ammmerica.
This is our partial report of the West Coast, we will have to confirm or deny it travelling to the East Coast?!?! We'll see…

Finalmente le foto / Pictures! Finally!

É stata una selezione molto difficile e non completamente riuscita, nel senso che ci sará da eliminare qualche foto di troppo, ma con calma. Per ora abbiate pazienza e godetevi queste.
Non so se riusciremo a pubblicare le altre storie che servirebbero a raccontare il nostro viaggio, io mi auguro di sí. In ogni caso sará bello raccontare di persona, ad amici e parenti, le varie gag simpatiche.

San Francisco
Tra le cittá visitate San Francisco si aggiudica la palma della preferita da entrambe.
Nonostante l'incessante vento che spazza le sue strade e le salite a prova di atleta, non si puó non apprezzare il colore e la vivacitá di una cittá che ha tanto da offrire, soprattutto se ti capita di alloggiare al Red Vic a Haight/Ashbury, bed&breakfast fondato dalla giovincella Sami Sunchild che abbiamo avuto il piacere di incontrare un paio di volte.
Le sue chiacchiere, chiaramente di origine "hippie" rispecchiano l'allestimento delle varie stanze del b&b, dove pace, relax e meditazione regnano. (Per la cronaca noi abbiamo alloggiato nella Japanese Tea Garden Room e non abbiamo scattato nemmeno una foto, babbe!).
Unico rammarico lasciando questa cittá é stato non poter visitare la prigione di Alcatraz. Purtroppo non c'erano piú biglietti disponibili e l'essere arrivate durante la turistica settimana del 4 luglio non ha facilitato l'impresa.
In compenso abbiamo avuto occasione di assistere ai festeggiamenti della piú importante festa americana (con il Giorno del Ringraziamento). Sará che siamo italiane, ma i fuochi prima delle 22 e l'immediata inversione di marcia e fuga a casa al termine dello spettacolo pirotecnico, non ci hanno impressionate granché.

San Francisco wins the title of the best city between the ones we visited.
Despite the restless wind and steep "athletes-proof" slopes, you can't ignore the colour and the vivacity of this city that has a lot to offer, specially if you are staying at the Red Vic in Haight/Ashbury, bed&breakfast owned by the young-ish Sami Sunchild whom we had the pleasure to meet a couple of times.
Her hippie-ish talk is perfectly reflected in the look 'n feel of the rooms. (We stayed in the Japanese Tea Garden Room and we didn't take one single picture, how stupid of us!).
The only regret we have is that we didn't get the chance to visit the Alcatraz prison. Unfortunately there weren't any tickets available and visiting during the week of the 4th of July didn't help.
On the other side we had the opportunity to live the true American exprience of the 4th of July celebration, one of the most important holiday (together with Thanks Giving's Day). But it must be because we are Italian and use to a different style of partying, but the fact that the pyrotechnic show and that everyone ran home right afterwards, didn't impressed us at all.

Bye bye LaLaLand
Ci siamo. Abbiamo completato i 5000 (o forse piú) km del nostro viaggio in questo continente.
Abbiamo chiuso con una giornata relax al mare a Malibu e una serata tranquilla a Beverly Hills.
Domani si parte... come sono volate queste tre settimane! Ci stavamo abituando. E invece no, domani si rientra e lunedí si riprende la vita normale.
Abbiamo ancora tanto da raccontare e foto da pubblicare, ci siamo promesse di farlo anche a viaggio finito. Non sará lo stesso, ma speriamo ci seguirete comunque, anche da "ferme" in terra europea!
[Beh, intanto GRAZIE per averci seguite fin qui! É stato bello leggere i vostri commenti e avervi sentito partecipi!]

Here we are. We've completed the 5000 (maybe more) km of our journey in this Continent.
We spent our last day relaxing on the Malibu beach and the night in Beverly Hills.
Tomorrow we'll catch our flight. Those 3 weeks went by so quickly! We were getting used to this life, but no, on Monday everything we'll be back to normal.
We have a lot to tell and photos to publish still and we promise we will even though the journey has come to an end. We hope you'll enjoy this blog even if we will be "standing still", writing from Europe!

Despite the roadtrip is almost over, we've noticed that few of you, loyal followers, have some problems with the blog: publishing a comment doesn't seem so straight forward for you (you know who you are!).Here are 2 simple ways to publish your lovely comments:

Trova le differenze / Spot the difference
Incredibile come nell'arco di una giornata si possano ammirare paesaggi diametralmente opposti.
Siamo passate dal lussureggiante parco di Yosemite, ricco di vegetazione (sequoie che non abbiamo visto) e fauna (che non abbiamo visto) [meno male che c'é stato il Canada!]. Scherzi a parte, abbiamo attraversato il parco che ci ha offerto paesaggi magnifici solo poche ore prima di raggiungere la terra del nulla.
Un caldo inimmaginabile, un suono del vento mai sentito (per Gi una voce inquietante, per Paola un suono seducente) e persino l'odore della terra era diverso da quelli mai percepiti finora.
Ora siamo a Valle, alle porte del Grand Canyon, in pausa causa temporale estivo (e stanchezza). Domani la natura ci stupirá ancora.
Finalmente vi regaliamo un po' di foto!

Amazing how we experienced the pleasure to see such different landscape in few hours.
We went from the luxury of Yosemite Park, a rich forest (sequoias and wild animals that we didn't see, thank God for Canada, no offense to my American friends, you know I love you!).
Just kidding! We enjoyed the incredible landscapes of the park just few hours before finding ourselves in the middle of nothing: the Death Valley.
Unbelievably hot. The enchanted sound of the wind in the Valley and the deep silence on the top of the mountains, even the land smelled differently.
Now we are in Valle, at the entrance of the Grand Canyon, resting after a rainy storm.
Tomorrow the Nature we'll blow our minds again.
